The Interior Design Process
At PepperPot Interior Designs, we follow a thoughtful and collaborative process that transforms your space from ordinary to exceptional—step by step. Here’s what you can expect when you work with us:
Phase 1: Discovery Call
We begin with a relaxed 15–20 minute call where I introduce myself and learn more about your space, needs, and design goals. To help guide the creative direction, you’re encouraged to share a few inspiration images—interiors you love or styles that resonate with you. These can be sent before or after the call, whichever suits you best.
Phase 2: Formal Consultation & Design Brief
This one-hour consultation can be done in person (for clients in Northern Johannesburg and Pretoria) or virtually via Zoom or WhatsApp video. We’ll dive deeper into your style, lifestyle, space, and budget. You’ll walk me through your current layout, and we’ll review the inspiration images you provided. After this session, I’ll create two custom mood boards that reflect your preferred aesthetic and begin shaping the design direction.
Phase 3: Mood Board Review & Feedback
In our second consultation, we’ll go through the mood boards together. A mood board is a curated visual guide of the atmosphere and look we aim to achieve—it includes colours, textures, materials, and design references. This is your opportunity to share what you love (or don’t) so we can refine the style and ensure the design direction is perfectly aligned with your vision.
Phase 4: Site Evaluation & Technical Planning
Once the design concept is approved, I’ll conduct a detailed site evaluation. If any structural or technical changes are needed—such as electrical adjustments or wall treatments—I’ll let you know. I can recommend trusted contractors, or you’re welcome to use your own. At this stage, I can also provide 2D floor plans and 3D renders to help you visualise the final space in detail. Phase 5: Sample Boards & Pricing
Here, I’ll present two sample boards featuring the exact items—furniture, lighting, artwork, and accessories—that will be sourced for your space, along with full pricing for each. These boards turn the design vision into tangible, shoppable elements that bring everything together seamlessly.
Phase 6: Installation & Styling
The final stage is where everything comes to life. I’ll oversee the arrangement and styling of all design elements to ensure your space is both functional and beautifully cohesive. If professional installers are needed (for items like lighting, artwork, or curtains), I’m happy to connect you with trusted service providers, or you can use your own team.
